I have always wanted to use my camera in ways that can open up doors for ministry. Everyone likes a good picture of themselves, and it is very satisfying when someone views and is pleased with what I have done for them. Whether it’s for a new job, dating website, or Christmas card - a good photographer can quickly become a hot commodity. That is why many people are surprised to know that I don’t charge for my work.
To me, my camera is a tool for ministry. I can use this tool to bless my friends and family with memories, or I can use it to meet a complete stranger who just realized a free photo is hard to pass up.
Inevitably, someone will always ask me “why don’t you charge?”
Well, I’m glad you asked. The reason I don’t charge is because God has blessed me with a creative gift, and in a small way I want to pass that blessing along to you. It's called grace. God gives me a grace I don’t deserve through Christ, and with the magic of photoshop I can do the same for you.
Ha. I don’t say that last part though. 😉
Now, I realize that this may not be a sustainable ministry. I can’t take everyone’s picture, or video every special event for free. I don’t have the bandwidth for that. It’s just one part of my ministry, not the whole. It just happens to be a part that I really enjoy when I have the time for it.
In the end, all I really want to do is point people back to Jesus. If I can capture a smile while doing it, even better.
